Sustainable transport

Climate change is the cross-cutting theme which underlies all of CPRE’s campaigning work. Transport is a key element which we need to tackle in our fight to reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2045. The countryside will play a vital role in meeting this challenge, and transport is a key area where change is necessary.

How we travel and plan transport impacts on the environment and our quality of life. More roads can scar the landscape and the increase in flights is shattering tranquillity. We need to plan our transport that puts new housing, jobs, shops and services close to public transport or within easy walking or cycling distance.
