Rural Matters: New Campaign to Support East Riding Communities
The East Riding of Yorkshire Rural Partnership, an independently chaired group dedicated to improving the quality of life for rural residents, has announced the launch of its “Rural Matters” campaign. This two-year initiative, beginning this autumn, aims to address the unique challenges faced by rural communities while celebrating the vital contributions of those who live and work in the countryside.
The Partnership, which represents a diverse range of rural interests, works tirelessly to support East Riding’s half of the population residing in rural areas, where over 90% of the land is used for agriculture. While rural life offers countless rewards, it also presents challenges—from limited access to services and funding to the rising cost of living.
Partnering with East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s Future Communities Initiative, and supported by RWE, the “Rural Matters” campaign will run various projects and awareness drives across key focus areas, including:
- Funding for Communities: Helping rural groups secure financial support to grow and thrive.
- Village Halls: Enhancing these community hubs for social, educational, and cultural activities.
- Countryside Access: Promoting sustainable tourism and protecting rural environments.
- Food and Farming: Supporting the agricultural sector, the backbone of the region’s economy.
Alongside these topics, the campaign will address disability services, adult care, welcoming places, and cost-of-living assistance for both households and businesses. The initiative is part of the council’s commitment to building stronger, more sustainable communities across East Riding.
Get Involved The East Riding Rural Partnership is always looking to expand its membership and welcomes individuals passionate about making a positive impact on rural life. If you live or work in East Riding and share a love for the countryside, we encourage you to join our efforts.
